The Turner’s approached me after securing a piece of land in Lower Hutt. The land was a steep section with bush on either side and has an excellent view of Wellington’s outer harbour. They did all the leg work to ensure that the design of the house meet their living requirements, maximising the views and the space.
They drilled down into the detail of how the final product would look; and also included some cost saving measures in the building process. An example of this is the Palliside bevelback weatherboards which saved them time, painting and scaffolding cost. What they saved, they spent on the interior of the house. I was surprised with the cost of their modern kitchen, which was excellent value for money.
Like all new home builds, they did have their challenges. I was able to draw upon my knowledge of the building process, to help and guide them in achieving their dream home; making it stress free for my clients. We both were pleasantly surprised at the final product and valuation.
It pays to consult and put a lot of effort in the planning stage. This is where; you sit with a mortgage broker or a banker who takes you through the building process; from initial consultation to completion.
